简介：阿华（刘德华饰）一向想当一位好警察，正当他获得了好机会正想大展拳脚的时候，他被调至的小组意志非常消沉，完整没有事情的劲头。他们的队伍经常遭到另一队由声张（张耀扬饰）的隽拔人马藐视。阿华非常不满扬的风格，更在一次行动中与之产生抵触。阿华的母亲（林建明饰）召回了家中，由于阿华的女友阿兰（张曼玉饰）受父亲（秦沛饰）所逼要嫁给一个与她完整没有感情的有钱人，阿兰的父亲更是阿华的师傅，情与义之间不知若何抉择。令阿华更加烦恼的是，自己的母亲竟然与自己的同事秋（黄秋生饰）产生了感情。回到警察局后，一群匪徒诡计闯进入拯救自己的同党，但阿华成功擒拿匪徒的功绩竟然被声张设计夺走。忍无可忍的阿华决议与声张在跆拳道赛中一决胜负。
