异常点开启在医院里，这回光顾的是二叠纪的双齿兽，它们活泼可爱，就是爱惹些小麻烦。再加上赶上孕妇梅勒妮生产，简直搞得卡特等人焦头烂额。当一切处理妥善，卡特等人回到异常点研究中心时，却发现那里已被海伦和她的复制品手下们所控制。海伦逼迫卡特说出一个不明物品的用处，却遭到了拒绝，于是恼羞成怒的海伦命令手下引爆炸弹。幸运地被救出火海的卡特，却重新冲回火海寻找一个重要的盒子，不想却惨遭海伦的毒手。弥留之际，卡特将不明物品交给康纳，并嘱咐康纳代替自己继续异常点的研究。
